Magnetic probes and traps are modern, highly effective technical means that help combat food-borne injuries in animals. They have been intensively used in veterinary medicine in the last few decades after the contamination of free-range pastures with small metal objects and waste reached a critical level. Magnetic traps and probes from the Medica company allow you to extract metal objects from the esophagus and stomach of cattle with a minimum level of injury.

Magnetic probes and traps from the Medica company

The Medica trading and manufacturing company presents the following models of magnetic probes and traps on the Ukrainian market:

  • LB — white magnetic trap. The trap has a magnet in a rectangular plastic case measuring 85x25 mm;
  • ЛЖ — yellow magnetic trap. Structurally, the trap consists of rings of magnetic metal alloy based on iron, 80 mm long and 18 mm in diameter. The ЛЖ model has the strongest magnetic properties, so it can be used to extract even those metal objects that have already perforated the wall of the gastrointestinal tract. The trap is removed back using a magnetic probe;
  • ЛЗ — green magnetic trap. The trap has a magnet in a rectangular plastic case measuring 100x35 mm;
  • ЛЧ — black magnetic trap. Structurally, the trap consists of rings of magnetic metal alloy based on iron, 80 mm long and 18 mm in diameter. The LC model has the strongest magnetic properties, so it can be used to extract even those metal objects that have already perforated the wall of the gastrointestinal tract. The trap is removed using a magnetic probe.

Magnetic probes and traps from Medica are actively used in veterinary medicine to prevent traumatic reticulitis in cattle. To use the trap, the animal is immobilized, its head is fixed in a raised position, the mouth is opened and the tongue is pulled out. A rubber or polyethylene tube with a diameter of at least three and a length of at least seventy centimeters is inserted into the animal's esophagus. The trap is lowered through the tube into the esophagus and stomach.

According to open statistics, cattle in free-range conditions can accumulate up to several kilograms of small foreign metal objects in the digestive system. Periodic preventive measures or urgent intervention with a magnetic probe make it possible to promptly remove foreign objects, save the animal and improve the condition of its digestive system.
