Stainless steel.
Scissors, clamps and surgical knives are medical instruments that can be found in any hospital, clinic, clinic or first aid station. They are distinguished by their versatility, multifunctionality and simple design.
Surgical clamps - what are they?
Surgical clamps are reusable instruments that are used for compression, fixation of vessels, organs, biological tissues and transfer of objects. Structurally, they consist of two halves, fastened with a movable lock. Medical clamps are made of stainless steel and titanium alloy - they are durable, rigid, corrosion resistant, and easy to clean, sterilize and disinfect.
Depending on the functional purpose and design features, medical clamps are divided into three main classes:
- hemostatic - used to temporarily stop bleeding. They may have notches or teeth at the ends. The shape of the clamps can be straight or curved. The most popular clamps on the market are one hundred and forty-five millimeters long;
- auxiliary – used for grasping biological tissues and skin, securing surgical linen, supplying dressings, instruments and other items during operations;
- final ones - have windows at the ends of the jaws. This category includes lingual, hemorrhoidal and hepatorenal clamps;
- intestinal - crushing or elastic pulp.
Medical scissors - main features
Medical scissors are a surgical instrument that is used to cut soft biological tissues. Structurally, scissors consist of rings, a handle, a lock, cutting edges and two blades. They can have a straight, curved shape or two bends for manipulation in hard-to-reach places. Scissors can be straight, blunt- or pointed-pointed, straight, pointed-pointed, button-shaped, or have an edge or arc bend, as well as an S-shaped bend. Microsurgical scissors are a separate category - they have short blades perpendicular to the handle, a special slot for the fingertips, and they also do not have rings.
The most popular models on the Ukrainian market are:
- N-14 – Konkhotom neurosurgical scissors two hundred and fifty-five millimeters long;
- H-23 – pointed, curved, neurosurgical scissors one hundred and sixty millimeters long;
- H-25 - scissors with a vertical bend and rounded narrow blades one hundred and seventy-five millimeters long.
Surgical knives - classification
Surgical knives are cutting medical instruments used to cut tissue. Based on their design features and functional purpose, they are classified into four types:
- scalpel - pointed and wide (abdominal) medical knives ranging from a few millimeters to fifteen centimeters in length. Made from alloy or chrome steel. May have single-sided or double-sided sharpening;
- amputation knife - a surgical cutting instrument used during autopsies and amputations. It has a length of up to twenty-two centimeters, a massive handle, a long blade with a straight edge and a sharp bend near the tip;
- resection knife - used for cutting more biological tissues of high density (tendons, ligaments, periosteum). It has a short blade and thickening along the unsharpened part;
- a knife for opening the membrane of tumors - it is used in neurosurgery, has a length of two hundred and ten millimeters and a curved short working part with a length of six and a half millimeters.
