Depending on the material, the following splints are distinguished for the treatment of fractures:

1. Metallic. The length of Kramer's wire tires reaches 1 m, and the width is 10-15 cm. In a situation where it is necessary to make a bus of greater length, several units are fastened together with a bandage. Mesh medical products are also distinguished, which are given the necessary shape.
2. Wooden. In case of hip fractures, Dieterichs splints are used. They are made in the form of crutches. If necessary, the length of the product can be adjusted. Plywood models are called splints.
3. Cardboard. They are used extremely rarely, since they do not differ in reliable rigidity and fixation.
4. Plastic. Before use, plastic plates are soaked in water and then applied to the limb. These splints are easy to cut with scissors, after drying, they retain the shape that they took after application.
5. Pneumatic. The product is put on as a cover. It is made of PVC film with an airtight sheath. There are splints for the hands and forearms, feet and legs, and knee joints.

How to use it correctly?

To prevent complications, it is important to adhere to the recommendations of specialists regarding the correct use of tires:

• it is necessary to apply the product at the place where the limb was damaged, because transfer without immobilization can lead to unpleasant consequences;
• you do not need to take off your clothes or shoes, because this can add pain and increase injury. You can gently cut your clothes, stop bleeding, apply a bandage with an antiseptic;
• it is important to give the limb the most comfortable physiological position;
• if the pearl is closed, then it is necessary to bandage with a slight extension of the limb;
• when placing the victim on a stretcher, hold the injured limb.

Immobilization tires should have sufficient strength, but, at the same time, be as comfortable and easy to use as possible. Fitting the product is carried out on a healthy limb. The binding is carried out using soft bandages: from the periphery to the center. It is important that the ends of the toes or feet remain open. This will help control normal circulation. Fixation of the splint is carried out taking into account two adjacent joints above and below the damaged area. The victim is covered with a blanket or warm clothing to avoid hypothermia.

Possible mistakes

When using too short products for immobilization, complete immobility of the affected limb cannot be achieved. And rigid standard tires without first wrapping the damaged area can significantly worsen the situation. An error is incorrect modeling of the splint without taking into account the anatomical features and localization of the damaged area. If a tourniquet is used to stop bleeding in the process of providing care, then it should not be covered with a bandage. Poor insulation during transport immobilization can lead to frostbite in the winter season.

• if the spine is injured, it is optimal to take plywood boards to prevent unnecessary bending.
